Surfing and Cabin

Surfing and Cabin
Moon from the cabin

Had breakfast at the nearest 7-Eleven this morning before driving back up the coast to meet Betsan and Luke at a surf rental shop for 2 p.m.
Luke and I rented boards from a local shop for ¥4,000 for three hours. The wetsuits were the same price, which seemed pretty steep, but luckily Luke had brought a couple of spares from the farm – one short and one long. I used the long one as it was a larger size, and Luke just about squeezed into the short one.
We headed down to the beach and got a quick lesson from Betsan on how to head into the break. We spent a couple of hours practising and it was actually really good fun. The waves were pretty big at times, and I definitely got crunched by a few. I managed to get up on a few occasions as well, so all in all it was a great afternoon.
After we finished, we went to meet a couple of other people who were doing a Workaway at a hostel/restaurant up the road. We had a couple of beers there before Betsan and Luke invited everyone back to theirs for some dinner and drinks.
We ended up just grabbing beers and instant noodles for ease of cooking and sat out on one of the terraces chatting about living in Japan and how it compares to each of our home countries.
I stayed on a futon in Betsan’s cabin – a welcome change after the last few nights sleeping in the warm car.
